    Sept/Oct 2011

    Mobility equipment used

    Manual self-propelled wheelchair

My general opinion of the holiday

It was such a fantastic holiday. An amazing experience. Being able to experience the African wildlife, up close and personal, in it’s own habitat is a dream for many. With mobility difficulties, people often think it is not possible. Well, with Endeavour Safaris, it is. They make dreams a reality.

    I stayed at

    Okavano Delta

    Endeavour Safaris tented accomodation

    endeavour-safaris.com

Does it have rooms adapted for wheelchairs?

    Yes

What facilities do the disabled rooms have?
    ◾Permanent seat in shower
    ◾Wet room / roll-in shower
◾Room and doorway wide enough to accommodate power/motorised wheelchairs

    Other information about the room

It is a tent! But….. the smaller things have been thought about to help wheelchair users. It has firm beds with mattresses, at a height to ease transferring. Care is taken to erect the tent on the hardest ground possible, to make pushing around easier. The bathroom, is ensuite to the tent and whilst basis, it is fitting to the environment and made possible with seats to use over the chemical toilet and in the shower area.

My general opinion of the accommodation

As it is camping, it is not going to meet 100% your access needs but plenty of help is at hand.

    I travelled by

Type of transport and comments on accessibility
◾Safari vehicle with a lift for wheelchair users.

    I visited

Places I visited during my trip
◾We ended our trip in Zambia, and crossed into Zimbabwe to visit the Victoria Falls.
